W/C 4th March

Don't forget, Yr 5 have Forest School on Tuesday afternoon.

We will be celebrting World Book Day on Thursday 7th March. The children have the option to come dressed as their favourite book character or word, their own clothes or their school uniform. We would love the children to bring their favourite book to read and share with us all.

Yr 4 - We will be finishing our unit on fractions and moving to a new unit on Decimals. We will begin looking at tenths as fractions.

Yr 5 - Our Decimal and Percentages unit is coming to an end. Our next unit is Perimeter and Area. We will begin with calculating the perimeter of rectangles.

Literacy in Maple Class

We will be writing a character description of the golden fish this week using our expanded noun phrases from last week. Then we will be writing a diary entry from the perspective of the golden fish. We will be focussing on the use of time conjunctions and adverbials to add better description.

Literacy in Ash

This week we will be writing our newspaper reports. We will be focusing on the features of a newspaper, paragraphs and using inverted commas correctly.

Yr 3 - We are moving onto a new unit in Science - Light. We will begin with looking at difference sources of light.

Yr 4 - We all enjoyed learning how to use the electrical equipment to make series circuits. This week we will be identifying whats gone wrong and how we can solve problems in circuits.

Yr 5 - This week we will be evaluating our investigation from last week.

Y4: SOMEWHERE TO SETTLE - We will be asking, What did early settlers need?

Y5: EASTERN EUROPE - We will be finding out about the continents, countries and cities that make up Eastern Europe.

Our key questions this week are:

  • What stories do Christians tell about the ipmortance of Jesus and his death and resurrection?
  • How does believing in the resurrection of Jesus change things for Christians?

In our groups, we will revisit the savoury snack that we chose. We will write out our ingredients and recipe and make any necessary changes.
