Literacy in Maple Class

We are digging deeper into chapter 2 of our text this week, exploring the key themes. We will be describing the setting of chapter two, Hogarth's home, before considering how the Iron Man is feeling.

Literacy in Ash Class

We are starting our new text, 'The Tin Forest' by Helen Ward this week.

Science

Yr 3 - If we have a sunny day then we can carry out our shadow investigation. If not, we will move onto our Plant unit and learn about the parts of a plant and their functions.

Yr 4 - To round up our unit on Habitats we will be looking at human impact on different habitats.

Yr 5 - We will be learning about gestational periods and lifespans.

Maths

Y3: We are starting our money unit by converting pounds and pence, adding money and subtracting money before finding change.

Y4: We are using money to apply our decimal skills.

RE

We are thinking about the advice that Krishna gave to Arjuna. We know that Hindus believe there are many spiritual pathways to moksha, so this week we are learning about these different 'yogas' (pathways)

Computing

Year 3 are continuing with emails, and Year 4s are beginning to plan their own animations.

History

Y3: Mayan Number System - How does the Mayan number system compare to ours?

Y4: Why did the Romans build new roads and towns?

Y5: Benin Art - What can we learn about the Kingdom of Benin from their art work?

Art

Our lesson this week is all about exploring different marks using a range of materials. The children will begin to draw nests in their sketch books and think about how these drawings will become sculptures in the next few weeks.
