Is my child too ill to come to school? NHS advice for parents

Introduction

Your child's attendance at school is very important to us.

Every child is entitled by law to good, full time education that meets their needs. It is your responsibility as parents to ensure that your child attends school every day that we are open except in a small number of allowable circumstances such as your child being too ill to attend or being given permission for an absence in advance from the school. (In exceptional circumstances only)

We monitor attendance very carefully and will do everything we can to help you enable your child to attend school. We ask that you do not take your children out of school for holidays, birthday treats, family get togethers or any other reason unless it is truly exceptional.

Every day that your child misses school is a day of education lost that your child is entitled to.

If you do intend to take your child out of school you must first apply to us for consent using the form that can be found below. A paper copy is also available in the office.

If you have any questions relating to any attendance matters please do not hesitate to contact either Mrs Burnett or Mrs Wilmshurst.

If your child is too poorly to come to school, please call or email office@fittleworth.school by 9.30am to give reasons for absence.
