This week

Thursday pm - Year 4 and 5 Theatre trip to see 'The Boy in the Back of the Class'. Children will need to wear school uniform. The performance starts at 2pm and is approximately 2hrs long so we will be returning to school later than normal. We will keep you updated on the day.

Literacy in Maple Class

We will begin this week by asking questions to improve our understanding of the text so far. What questions could Finn (our main character) be asking at different points of the story? We will be looking closely at the character of the golden fish and, using expanded noun phrases, we will be describing the golden fish.

Literacy in Ash Class

This week, we will read as much of the book as we can before we go to the theatre. We will study different characters points of view and revisit how to punctuate speech correctly.

Maths

Y3 - We will be counting in fractions on a number line, and looking at equivalent fractions this week.

Y4 - We will be using fractions walls this week to learn about equivalent fraction families. We will be adding fractions and mixed numbers, and subtracting fractions.

Science

Yr 3 - We will be evaluating our soil investigation

Yr 4 - This week we will be using all the electrical equipment to build series circuits.

History

Y3 & Y5 - We will be learning about Egyptian gods this week. We will be researching and finding out about many of the gods the Egyptians believed in. After listening to the facts, we will be writing character profiles about the gods.

Y4 - We will be finding out about a very significant person in the Shang Dynasty called Fu Hao. Her tomb was discovered with many strange artefacts. We will be finding out the significance of these artefacts and find out what we can learn from these.

DT

We will be designing our bookmarks this week considering fabrics, tools and techniques.

RE

Last week, we considered what it means to be a saviour, or a hero. We decided we needed real heroes today to help serve and save people. This week, we are enquiring into the idea of Jesus as a saviour.

Computing

Y3 & Y4 -  We will be using Micro-Bits this term for data logging. The children will be taking the Micro-Bits into various environments to take temperatures of different days. The children will really enjoy experimenting with the Micro-Bits to collect, analyse, evaluate and present data and information.
