Literacy- This week we will be using the text 'The Storm Whale'. We will be writing character portraits focusing on using adjectives in expanded noun phrases, retelling the story using a story mountain, comparing the story to others we have read and answering comprehension questions. 

 

Phonics/Spellings - Year 2 will be revising more homophones and words with suffixes. They will also be practising their common exception words.

 

Year 1 - will be looking at switch it Mitch sounds (sounds that look the same but sound different) for /ch/ for example chick, chorus and chef

 

Maths- Year 2 will be practising the four operations, solving problems involving the four operations and revising place value.

 

Year 1 will be starting a new topic of place value (within 100). They will be counting in 10s and 1s to 100, looking at number lines to 100 and partitioning numbers to 100.

 

Science - Year 1 will be beginning a unit on plants and finding out where food comes from. Year 2 will be consolidating their learning on life cycles.

 

Geography- We will be continuing our learning about the different continents.

 

Art - We will be beginning to create our own pieces of architecture.

 

RSE - We will be reading Perfectly Norman and discussing how we are all unique and discussing changes.

 

Computing - Year 1 will be continuing to develop their skills in coding and Year 2 will be continuing to develop their skills in creating a piece of music.
