w/b 18th March

This week is Parent Consultations week. Please do sign up for an appointment if you haven't done so already. I can see there are 11 families not yet signed up. I have offered Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday after school for appointments.

Thursday afternoon at 2:30pm we have a Parent Gallery in Ash and Maple classes. This is to give parents the chance to see their childrens' amazing work from art, to science to History. There is so much to showcase, it would be great to have as many of you there to see it!

Literacy in Maple Class

We will be using the amazing illustrations of the different settings in our story to write setting descriptions using similes and metaphors.

Literacy in Ash Class

We will be finishing our newspaper reports and writing up in neat for our Class Gallery.

Science

Yr 3 - We will be learning about the Sun and how we use it as a light source.

Yr 4 - This week we will be learning about sustainable energy.

Maths

Y3: We will be adding and subtracting masses at the beginning of the week. We will then be moving on to measuring capacity and volume using ml. We will finish the week looking at equivalent capacities and volumes and comparing them.

Y4: Continuing with hundredths, we will be looking at fractions, decimals and place value charts.

RE

We have been so privileged to receive a reply from two Salvation Army officers. We sent our questions to them and they very kindly replied. We will be spending this lesson responding to what we learn from them about how their faith in Jesus inspires them to serve and save others.

Geography

Y3: We looked at Volcanoes last time and this week, we will be exploring Earthquakes. We have learned about the layers of the Earth as well as tectonic plates and how they move, resulting in some natural disasters.

Y4: We have already considered reasons why some places were chosen as settlements in the early prehistoric days. This week, we will be exploring the names of places and what these mean.

Y5: We have been labelling the countries, cities and continents that make up Eastern Europe. This week, we will be comparing landscapes in Eastern Europe with where we live.
