Parent meeting Monday 3pm. 

Literacy - This week we will be using the text 'The slightly annoying elephant'. Year 1 will be focusing on orally saying sentences before they write and year 2 ensuring they are writing full sentences with full stops, extending themselves using conjunctions like because, but etc. They will be drawing the elephant and writing captions, looking at extracts from the book, writing sentences using the pictures from the book and thinking about what animal they might want to adopt and write a wanted poster.

 

Phonics - Year 1 - We will be recapping the sounds ure, ear and air and recapping basics 4.

 

Year 2 - We will be revising the sh, ch, th and writing them in words and full sentences. We will be practising the common exception words and working on a year 2 spelling pattern.

 

Maths - Year 2 - We will be writing numbers to 100 in words, partitioning numbers to 100 e.g. 56 = 50 + 6 56 = 30 + 6, we will be positioning 10's then 10's and 1's on a number line to 100

 

Year 1 - we are learning to count on from any number, 1 more, count backwards within 10, 1 less, compare groups by matching.

 

Science - Year 1 will be labelling materials e.g. wood, plastic, material etc. Year 2 will be looking at animal offspring and whether they look like their adult version. 

 

Geography - We will be exploring where in the world is it hot and why? Looking at the equator, continents on a world map.

 

Art - We will be exploring and collecting patterns with natural materials.

 

Computing - Year 1 will be learning to turn on the computers and login to PurpleMash. They will then change their avatar. Year 2 will be presenting work on the computers by drawing African animals.

 

RSHE- We are learning what are our classroom rights are and what do we do at school that shows that we can be responsible.

 

RE- We are exploring why are Christians thankful to God?
