Literacy - This week we will be using the book 'Wangri's Tree of Peace'. We will be reading the book and discussing the characters life and writing questions in order to do hot seating. We will be writing a character profile using statements. Year 2 will be identifying statements, questions and exclamations in a text. Year 1 will focus on writing clear full sentences punctuated with a full stop and capital letter. We will be designing a poster supporting the cause.

 

Phonics - Year 2 will be spelling words with air, ure and working on compound words. We will also be practising common exception words and our spelling pattern for the week.

 

Year 1 - We will be learning the sounds ay, ea, ie, oe, ue. 

 

Maths - Year 2 will be revising and building on our learning from last week. We will be adding across 10, subtracting across 10, subtraction a 1 digit number from a 2 digit number across 10 and finding 10 more and 10 less than any given number.

 

Year 1 - We will be learning systematic number bonds within 10, number bonds to 10, addition- add together, addition- add more and addition problems.

 

Geography - We will be finding our about African animals from African countries.

 

Science - Year 2 will be investigating the need for exercise and performing simple test. Year 1 will be carrying out an investigation about the best umbrella for a teddy.

 

Art - We will be creating some Autumn floor drawings, looking at at leaves and twigs  that have fallen for inspiration.

 

Computing  - Year 2 will be drawing and writing to present an African scene. Year 1 will be using 2paint to develop using a mouse on the computers.

 

Design and Technology - We will be looking at African fruits and what they look like on the inside and outside. We might get to try them!
