It is safer internet day this week so we will be discussing ways to be safe online and considering this years topic of “Inspiring change? Making a difference, managing influence and navigating change online”  in an age appropriate way.

Literacy- This week we will be continuing to use the text 'The Enormous Crocodile'. We will be create a word bank of adjectives to help us describe some of the characters from the book and then using these to write character descriptions. Year 2 will be focusing on writing their descriptions using expanded noun phrases. We will also be reviewing the clever tricks in the book and considering how the crocodile would have improved them. We will be answering questions about the text and reviewing the book.

Maths- Year 2 will be comparing and then ordering lengths and heights and solving word problems. They will also be revising the four operations and consolidating methods to solve these.

Year 1 - Will be continuing to look at related number facts and be solving missing number problems. We will begin to look in more detail at numbers 20 - 50 using dienes and numicon. 

Phonics - Year 2 will be looking at alternative graphemes of f, m, c and practising common exception words. The spelling of these will be checked this week.

Year 1 - This week year 1 will be looking at all the alternative sounds for /ee/, these include, /ea/ /e_e/ /ey/  and /y/

History - We will be considering the important changes that have happened over time in relation to toys and developing our chronology. 

Science - Year 1 will be considering how we take care of the environment by making items which can be used outside in our learning classroom eg bird feeders. Year 2 will be learning about the ocean and woodland habitats.

DT- We will be finishing our Jack in the boxes and evaluating how well they work and what we could improve.

RE - We will be considering what needs fixing in our world?

Computing - Year 2 will be developing our coding skills and year 1 will be introduced to an animated storyboard.
