We hope you all had a lovely half term break and are ready for another busy 6 weeks of learning.

This half term the Yr 5's will have their Forest School sessions on a Tuesday afternoon. They are to come to school dressed in their Forest School clothes. Please make sure they have suitable footwear, a waterproof coat and waterproof trousers. Even if it isn't raining, they are likely to get muddy and dirty!

Maths

Yr 4 - We are continuing with our Fractions unit. This week we will be understanding improper fractions and converting between improper fractions and mixed numbers. We will also look at equivalent fraction families.

Yr 5 - Continuing with our Decimals and Percentages, we will be learning about thousandths and identifying them as decimals and then order and compare numbers with up to 3 decimal places.

Literacy

This week we will be selecting another genre of writing to do some independent writing. Over the course of the year the children will choose 6 different genres of writing to complete their independent writing. The subject of their writing is their own choice.

Science

Yr 3 - We are starting a new unit on Light. This week we will be learning about different light sources.

Yr 4 - This half term we will be learning about Electricity. We will begin looking at different appliances and how they are powered.

Yr 5 - We are starting a new unit, 'Animals including humans'. To begin with we will be looking at the human life cycle.

Geography

Yr 4 - Somewhere to Settle - we will be asking, 'What did the early settlers need?'

Yr 5 - Eastern Europe - we will start this new unit by learnings the continents, countries and cities in Eastern Europe.

RE

This week we will be answering the question:

Computing

Yr 4 - This half term we will be an introduction to Artificial Intelligence. This week we will be learning what is AI.

Yr 5 - We will coding this half term and be developing games using Scratch. To begin with we will be designing and programming a maze game.

DT

This half term we will be cooking and looking at Global Food. We will be using rice as the base for our dishes and cook different rice dshes from around the world.

This week we will be exploring ingredients and where in the world different foods come from.
