Welcome back. I hope you have had a well rested break.
Literacy
We are starting this half term with our new text, 'Malala's Magic Pencil.' This story follows the true story of a young girl who wishes for change. We will be using this text to inspire us to think about the changes we can make in our lives. We will be learning how to write formal letters which will influence change.
Maths
Year 3 and Year 4 will be learning about fractions this half term.
RE
Our new unit this half term is a Christianity Unit focussing on the theme of Salvation. In the build up to Easter we will start this unit by using our Big Frieze to order the Bible's big story.
Geography
Y3: Extreme Earth - this week we are learning about the layers in our earth 'Under our Feet'.
Y4: Somewhere to Settle - we will be asking, 'What did the early settlers need?'
Y5: Eastern Europe - we will start this new unit by learnings the continents, countries and cities in Eastern Europe.
Computing
Y3: We will be learning how to email safely on the internet using Purple Mash.
Y4: We will be looking at Artificial Intelligence. What is AI? How can AI help us? And what does the future of AI look like?
DT - Sewing!
We will begin our new exciting project this week by researching different styles of pencil cases. We will spend a few weeks designing how we would like our own pencil case to look before practising some sewing using basic stitches. If parents or grandparents would like to volunteer some of their time to help us with our sewing, please do email me at cwestbrook@fittleworth.school so we can arrange a suitable time.
Science
Yr 3 - We are starting a new unit on Light. This week we will be learning about different light sources.
Yr 4 - This half term we will be learning about Electricity. We will begin looking at different appliances and how they are powered.
