Reminder - Yr 4 have Forest School on Tuesday afternoon. The children need to wear the PE kits to school and have their Forest School clothes in a bag to change into. Please make sure you keep an eye on the weather and pack appropriate clothing (waterproof coat/trousers).
Maths - Continuing our Place Value units.
Yr 4 - We will continue to explore numbers up to 10,000 as well as finding 1, 10, 100 and 1000 more or less of a given number.
Yr 5- We will continue to explore numbers up to 1,000,000.
Literacy in Maple Class -
Literacy in Ash
We are going to begin using this terms text, 'Escape from Pompeii'. Its a beautiful picture book and we will take our time to read and immerse ourselves within the story. Our Literacy objectives to start with will be focusing on the language and vocabulary used: nouns, verbs, adjectives, pronouns, fronted adverbials, prepositions and conjunctions.
This week we will be using the first few pages of the book to find a range of vocabulary and use a thesaurus to find synonyms which could improve the text.
Science
Yr 3 - Last week we learnt the locations of the skull, ribcage, femur, pelvis and spine. This week we will be learning about the functions of the skeleton.
Yr 4 - After learning about the differences between mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and amphibians, this week we will be learning the difference between vertebrates and invertebrates. We will be grouping and classifying some animals.
Yr 5 - We will be planning an investigation to help us learn more about air resistance.
History
Y4: We are going to explore what it was like living in the Shang Dynasty
Y5: We will be learning about the names of places and their origins in Anglo-Saxon Britain.
Art
This week we will be exploring outline, form and shape. We will be using pen and ink for our drawing and have a go at some ruler drawings.
