Forest schools for year 2 Tuesday. Please wear appropriate clothes and bring PE kit in a bag to change into for PE in the afternoon.

We will start our Christmas play. Please practise the words and any lines at home. 

Literacy - We will begin by reading the book '3 little wolves and the pig bad pig'. We will be comparing this to the traditional tale and acting it out using lolly puppets in small groups, writing what the characters are saying on a whiteboard in a silent retelling. We will then be writing questions that we want to find out about wolves and researching wolves and writing the answers we find to create a mini fact file. 

Phonics - Year 2 will be revising alternative spellings of /air/ /or/ and /ur/. We will also be practising reading and spelling the common exception words.

Year 1 are learning the choose to use spellings /ie/ and /igh/ and /oa/ and /oe/

Maths- Year 2 will be solving missing number problems involving addition and subtraction, solving word problems and practising various addition and subtraction calculations.

Year 1 will be learning about fact families and the 8 facts and subtraction by crossing out and taking away.

Geography - We will be exploring the UK and naming the countries and capital cities.

Science - Year 1 will be exploring different objects and the materials they are made from. Year 2 will be exploring brick and rock, glass and plastic in more depth.

Design and technology - We will be planning a design for our fire engine with the purpose it being able to move and carry water.

Computing - Year 1 will be sorting items practically before beginning a unit of work on sorting data and pictograms. Year 2 will begin a unit on effective searching - using purple mash software.
