Literacy - This week we will be completing a piece of non fiction writing about rainforest animals. We will be watching some clips of these animals, making notes, writing questions we are going to answer, writing statements to answer these and presenting these on a fact file. We will also, be answering some questions about a piece of text given.

 

Phonics - Year 2 will be learning when to double to consonants and add y eg runny. Also, practising their common exception words.

 

Year 1 will be learning the 'choose to use' spellings for /air/ /are/ and /ear/ eg fair, share and bear and  for /ur/ /ir/ and /or/ eg. fur, girl, word. 

 

Maths - Year 2 will be consolidating their multiplication and division knowledge with some arithmetic and word problems. They will also be revising their addition and subtraction.

 

Year 1 will be learning about place value. We will start by counting from 20 to 50, making groups of ten and partitioning into tens and ones. 

 

Science - Year 1 will be considering why it is important to take care of our planet? Year 2 will be exploring ocean and woodland habitats. 

 

Computing - We will begin this half term with a session on online safety where year 1 will be discussing adverts and year 2 about how to speak online to people and be kind.

 

Design and technology - This half term we will be creating a  moving picture. To begin we will be exploring and evaluating books with moving parts. If you have any of these at home please do bring them in.

 

Geography - We will be looking at what rainforests are and where in the world we will find them. 

 

RE - Our big question this half term is What are thge best symbols of Jesus' death and resurrection at Easter?

 

PSHE- We will be discussing what we are all good at.
