16th September

YEAR 2 will be having a workshop from the NSPCC about speaking out on Thursday. A letter has been sent home to explain about this but any questions please do ask.

 

YEAR 1 will have forest school Tuesday so please dress appropriately and bring in PE bags to get changed into for the afternoon.

 

Literacy- This week we will be using the text 'How rabbit stole the fire'. We will be looking at some of the new vocabulary in the book. We will be looking at a candle and discussing feelings and writing sentences about how we need to stay safe around fire. We will be sequencing the story and writing captions about the different parts of the story using full sentences.

 

Phonics - Year 2 will be revising the spelling of th/f/ff and writing words using the correct one, and writing words with the correct /ai/ and /ee/ phonemes.

 

Year 1 will be revising CVCC segmenting and blending words such as sand and tent.

 

Maths - Year 2 will be placing 10's on a number line to 100, placing 10's and 1's on a number line to 100, estimate numbers on a number line, compare objects and compare numbers.

 

Year 1 will be comparing groups by matching, fewer, more and some, less than, greater than, comparing numbers and ordering objects. 

 

Science - Year 1 will be exploring the sense of sound. Year 2 will be exploring the differences between amphibians and reptiles.

 

History - The children will be comparing London in the past and present.

 

Geography - We will be finding where London is on a map of the UK and finding England, Wales, Scotand and Northern Ireland.

 

Art- We will be creating our own sketchbooks and exploring the work of Molly Haslund. 

 

Computing - Year 1 will be practising logging in and using the mouse pad to create a picture. Year 2 will be developing their ability to save and open documents to continue to work on them.
