Welcome back. I hope you had a lovey summer break. I am looking forward to hearing about your holidays and seeing you all for the start of a new year.
Children are encouraged to bring their own pencil cases to school in Key Stage Two with everything they need (e.g. pencils, a rubber, sharpener, ruler, colouring pencils, a pair of scissors and a small glue stick although not essential) Please avoid bringing gel pens and highlighters, as well as anything else that could prove to be too distracting in lessons. These more precious items often go missing or can cause upset when they are shared around the class, or lost, or broken. We do have resources in the classroom for those children who may need them but school budgets are incredibly tight and stretched so it is often easier for children to have what they need in their pencil case on their desk.
This term we will be getting to know each other and establishing our classroom rules. We will have History lesson together in our year groups (Year 3 - Stone Age, Year 4 - Ancient Greece, Year 5 - Anglo-Saxons), Science and PE lessons will also be in our year groups. RE, computing, Art and music will be taught in our classes in the afternoons. Maths will be taught in year groups with the year 4s being split into either Maple or Ash depending on where we think they will learn best. Literacy will be taught in Maple and Ash class with the year 4s being split again based on where we think they will learn best.
Information about school trips, parent evening consultations and Christmas performances will be communicated to parents nearer the time.
If parents are interested to know the weekly learning that is happening, please do click on the link above to take you to my weekly blog. I will be sharing learning objectives with parents as well as handy tips on how to best support your child with their learning at home. This blog will be updated weekly, usually by the end of the weekend before the upcoming week.
If parents have any questions or need to make an appointment to speak to me, please do email either the office if it is a school issue, or myself directly using cwestbrook@fittleworth.school if it is a more personal or class based issue.
