This week we will be continuing with the story of "Jack and the Bean Stalk" In drawing club our get up stand up words are "clambering" "Descending" "Booming" "Glittering" and we will also be introducing "Ginormous" and "shocking". We will be drawing and talking about the Giants Castle, what Jack buy with his treasures and deciding what else Jack could have traded Daisy, the cow for!
In phonics, this week we will be recapping the sounds ng, ai, ee and igh. We will also be focusing on all the tricky words we have learnt so far.
In maths this week, we will be representing numbers 1-10, we will be developing our conceptual subitising skills and start to recognise the groups in numbers to 10. Children use conceptual subitising to identify a whole quantity within 10 by subitising the smaller groups that make up that number for example 3 and 4 make 7. We will also be learning 1 more and 1 less on numbers up to 10.
We will be building castles in our outdoor area and have already begun getting our garden ready for some plants to be planted. As a class we have already planted some runner beans, one to keep indoors, one outside, which one will grow first?
We are going to continue talking about what plants need to grow as we plant our own beans to bring home. Once the beans are home the children are going to look after them and are going to let us know when they see the first shoot. Parents please could send photos to school of your beans as they begin to grow. How exciting!
