W/C 27th January

Maths

Yr 4 - We are starting a new unit this week, Length and Perimeter. We will be learning how to calculate the perimeter of shapes and converting measurements to different units.

Yr 5 - Having finished our unit of Multipication and Division we are now going back to Fractions! We will be learning how to multiply fractions and finding fractions of a quantity.

 

Literacy

By the end of the half term, we will have written a newspaper report. This week we will be learning how to use direct and reported (indirect) speech to then use within our newspaper. We also have a lot of reading to do!

 

Science

Yr 3 - We will be learning about the importance of soils and planning a soil experiment.

Yr 4 - Using decibel meters we will be exploring the volume of differnet sounds.

Yr 5 - Having planned our insulation experiment, this week we will be carrying out our experiment and recoring our results.

 

Art

Having spend some time exploring different materials to use within our art work, this week we will be deciding what landscape/cityscape we would like to recreate as our final piece of artwork. 

 

RE

Our key questions for this week are:

  • Can 'time' be holy?
  • How does a Jewish Shabbat begin?
  • How do Jewish people make Shabbat holy? What do they do to mark the beginning and end of Shabbat?
  • Is 'holy' a good word to describe Shabbat?

 

Computing

Yr 4 - Using the knowledege we have learnt, we will experiment with pitch, rhythm and melody to create a piece of house music on Busy Beats.

Yr 5 - We will be continuing creating our class database.

 

Top
