MONDAY 3rd NOVEMBER IS AN INSET DAY AND SCHOOL IS CLOSED FOR ALL CHILDREN.
WEDNESDAY is our first WELLY BOOT WEDNESDAY
We hope you are having or have had a very lovely half term break. We are really looking forward to seeing you all back at school on Tuesday 4th November.
This Wednesday will be the first of our forest school sessions which we are calling "Welly Boot Wednesday". This term the children will be staying on site with Mrs Miller, one of our forest school leaders and getting to know the forest school rules before moving on to be in the woods in the Spring term. The children are to come into school wearing clothes appropriate for forest schools, we recommend tracksuit bottoms or leggings rather than jeans, own jumpers, please bring in a separate bag waterproof jacket and trousers (we have a few spare pairs at school if you need some) hats, gloves and the children will definitely need wellies which I know most children keep at school.
We will also need some parent helpers each week. Please speak to Mrs Ball in the school office if you would be able to help on a Wednesday afternoon and she will organise a DBS check. DBS checks are required before you can help or join us on any school trips including forest school.
This week we are learning the sounds 'ck' 'e' 'u' 'r'. See parent learning leaflet. We had been due to learn these the week before half term but due to large numbers of illness within the class we decided to wait till after half term.
In maths this week we will be finding 1,2 and 3. We will be looking for them around the school and we will be subitising numbers. Subitising is the ability to instantly recognize the number of objects in a small group without counting. Subitising is like a child looking at a dice and knowing there are five dots without counting each one. It helps children:
In drawing club this week we are reading "A dark dark tale" by Ruth Brown. We will be drawing the mouse from the story, inventing a way to shine more light along the way, we will also be drawing what we think could be hiding uostairs in the house. Our "get up, stand up" words this week are...
Dreary
Isolated
Pitch black
Shocked
Misty
We will also be thinking about Bonfire night, and how firefighters are people that help us. What do they do? How do they help us? and when might we need their help?
