Monday - Easter Bank Holiday

Tuesday - Inset day training for teachers

Wednesday - First day back for all children

This is a short week in school. We will be finding out what everyone has been up to in their Easter holidays and diving straight back into our new units of work for this half term.

Maths: Y3 will be starting their second unit on Fractions, learning how to add and subtract fractions.

Y4 will be starting their second unit on Decimals, learning how to partition, compare and order decimals.

Literacy: We will be starting our new text for this half term, 'Marcy and the Riddle of the Sphinx' written by Joe Todd-Stanton. He is a fantastic author who has written many mythical texts using historical knowledge. This text will draw on our learning about the Ancient Egyptians as we learn how to write our own stories using direct speech, synonyms and short sentences to build tension.

History: With such a short half term, and many Tuesdays out, we will be extending our history learning across the whole of the Summer Term. Year 3 will be learning about the Mayan civilisation. Year 4 will be learning about the Romans. And Year 5 will be learning about the Kingdom of Benin from Africa.

RE: We will be learning about the Sikh religion this half term, asking the big question, 'How do Sikhs put their beliefs about equality into practice?'

Art: This half term our focus is on sculpture. We will be telling stories through drawing and making, focusing on a text to inspire our creations. Using a range of materials we will be creating our own sculpture, exploring the idea that sculptures can have 'characters' and 'personality'. We will looking at the work of two artists, Inbal Leitner and Rosie Hurley, to inspire our own sculptures.

Computing: We will be using the micro-bits this half term to explore coding in different forms. We can create our own name badges, pay games and even create our own step-counters.
