Literacy - This week we will be using the book ' The Slightly Annoying Elephant'. We will be drawing the elephant and writing captions, we will be orally retelling the story and writing a full sentence using finger spaces, full stops and capital letters. We will be creating our own animal we want to adopt (pretending) and describing it and what it  might get up to. We will also be answering questions about the story.

Phonics/ Spelling - Year 2 will be revising some of the basic 3 phonemes in their spellings of trickier words. These will be ch, qu, sh, th. We will also be learning some of the year 2 common exception words. 

Year 1-

Maths - Year 2 will be recognising 10's and 1's, using a place value chart, partition numbers to 100 e.g. 34 = 30 +4, write numbers to 100 in words and flexibly partition numbers to 100 e.g. 56 = 40 + 16.

Science - Year  will be identifying, naming and labelling parts of the body. Year 2 will be identifying mammals and birds.

Geography - We will comparing the weather and climate of the Uk to Africa and the Polar Regions. We will be labelling and learning the continents of the World. Year 2 will be seeing how many they remember.

Continent song

Art - We will be exploring how artists are collectors and explorers. We will be creating a visual list of place s and things we could explore during this unit.

Online Safety - Year 1 will be discussing using a password as security. Year 2 will be discussing cyberbullying in an age appropriate way.
