Literacy- This week we will be continuing to use the text 'Meerkat Mail'. We will be learning the days of the week, the order, how to spell them and that they always need a capital letter. We will be writing full sentences about what Sunny does each day using a capital letter and full stop. Year 2 will be using commas in lists to list what Sunny needs on holiday. We will also be writing a thank you note/ letter from Sunny and answering comprehension questions about the book.

Phonics - Year 2 will be practising the alternative spelling patterns for oe, ue and a-e. We will be practising our common exception words and the spelling pattern c as in rice.

Year 1 will be continuing to revisit the phase 3 sounds. This week we will focus on /oo/ /ar/ /or/ /ur/ /ow/ /oi/ /er/. 

Maths - Year 2 will be practising flexible partitioning, bonds to 10, fact families and bonds to 20, related facts and bonds to 100.

Fact families

Year 1 will be ordering numbers and objects and learning how to use a number line. We will then move on to a new maths topic which is addition and subtraction. 

Science - Year 1 will be exploring smell. Year 2 will be sorting animals into groups.

Art - We will be creating leaves through wax resist.

PE - We will be creatively jumping.

RE - We will be finding out about the Christian festival of Harvest.

Geography - We will begin to find out about Kenya.
