Forest School Tuesday for year 2.

We will be practising our Christmas play so please help your children to learn the words they are saying.

Literacy - This week we will be using the text 'Let's save Antarctica'. We will be writing a description of a polar bear using adjectives, writing a letter to Mrs Burnett asking her if we can adopt a polar bear and create a poster about saving the polar regions from climate change. Year 2 will be focusing on using different sentence types. 

Phonics  year 1 will be continuing reading the basics 3 sounds using Magic Mack and Jazzy Jack.

Year 2 will be looking at alternative spellings and pronunciations of c and g. We will be learning common exception words and learning a new spelling pattern.

Maths - Year 2 will be practising more addition and subtraction and some word problems. We will then be moving onto shape and recognising 2D and 3 D shapes and counting the sides on 2D shapes. 

Year 1 will be subtracting and finding out how many are left, using a number line to subtract and adding and subtracting 1 or 2. 

Science - Year 1 will be exploring floating and sinking. Year 2 will be exploring the materials metal and fabric. 

Geography- We will be comparing the UK to the polar regions and Kenya. We will be revising the continents.
