INSET DAY MONDAY.

Year 2 forest school starts this Tuesday. Children to come to school wearing forest school clothes and bring a bag with their PE kit in to get changed into for the afternoon's PE session.

Literacy - We begin a 2 week unit of work using the text 'The Rainbow Bear'. This week we will begin by creating our own rainbow bears and writing our wishes next to it in a full sentence. We will be writing speech bubbles for the different characters in the story and year 2 will be trying to use different sentence types. 

Phonics - Year 2 will be revising alternative spellings for or and revising the spelling pattern dge and tch. Due to the INSET this week we would like the children to learn to spell their common exception words.

Year 1 will be continue to learn the basics 3 sounds using Magic Mack and Jazzy Jack to help them sound out those quiet sounds a little louder and a little bit longer. See phonics learning leaflet below.

Maths - Year 2 will be revising the adding skills they learnt last half term. We will then be subtracting 2 digit numbers not across the 10 (56-13=) and then progress on the subtracting across the 10 (54-26=).

Year 1 - will be continuing to learn about addition and subtraction. They will be adding more, solving addition number problems and finding a part.

Geography - We will be revising the continents and compass points. We will be exploring the polar regions including using Google Earth.

Science - Year 1 will be exploring materials this half term and be looking at objects made from wood, plastic, glass, metal and rock. Year 2 will be revising the materials they learnt in year 1 and be further exploring wood, paper and cardboard.

Computing - Year 1 will begin to understand how to group and sort and year 2 will be create an online pictogram.

Online Safety - Year 1 will be discussing safe adults and using the Jessie and friend video on ThinkyouKnow website. year 2 will be discussing sharing photos using the book #Goldilocks.
