Forest School Tuesday for Year 2.

We have started practising for the Christmas Play. Please help your children to learn any lines they may have off by heart.

Literacy - This week we will continue to use the text 'The Rainbow Bear'. We will be retelling the story in pictures and then in words. We will be writing about our favourite part and describing the setting. We will also be creating some poems using nouns and verbs for Remembrance day.

Phonics - Year 2 will be revising alternative spelling patterns for i and o. Also practising common exception words.

Year 1 we will be continuing with the basics 4 using Magic Mack and Jazzy Jack to help us segment and blend.

Maths - Year 2 will be solving mixed addition and subtraction calculations, comparing number sentences and solving missing number problems. 

Year 1 will be learning to subtract. we will begin by finding a part, looking at fact families and writing down all eight facts within a fact family. We will also be subtracting by taking away, crossing out and finding out how many are left. 

Science - Year 1 will be exploring different materials. Year 2 will be focusing on brick/ rock and glass/ plastic.

Geography - We will be comparing the UK to the Polar regions.

Design and technology - We will look at what a structure is and designing a chair for Goldilocks that 'is just right'. This will need to to soft enough and strong enough. We will be using junk modelling for our construction next week so please bring any in for us to use.
