Literacy - This week we will be reading 'The enormous crocodile'. We will be writing questions to interview 'the crocodile' and imagining what he might say, acting out some of the scenes, identifying adjectives for year 1 and expanded noun phrases for year 2 and writing a wanted poster for the crocodile. 

 

Phonics - Year 2 will be learning the spelling pattern where you drop the e and add ed. We will be spelling words where you drop the e and add ing to the root word. 

 

Year 1 will be reading and writing words using the choose to use sounds /aw/ /wh/ /are/.

 

Maths- Year 2 will be doubling and halving, recognising odd and even numbers, learning the 10 times table and dividing by 10 and learning the 5 times table. The children could log on onto TTRS and have a play - the logins are in the front of their reading diary. We will have a session the following week in school to use this.

 

Year 1 will be subtracting by counting back and finding the difference, finding related number facts and number problems using numbers up to 20.

 

Science - Year 1 will be comparing and grouping animals. Year 2 will be learning about polar habitats and desert habitats.

 

History - We will be finding out the development of teddy bears. Also finding out about Queen Victoria.

 

Design and Technology - The children will be creating the springs and 'Jack's' for their Jack in a boxes.

 

PE - We will be using the apparatus, exploring different levels, speed, balances and practising egg and log rolls.
