Literacy - This week we will be continuing to use the text 'Traction Man'. We will be sequencing pictures of the events of the story and orally retelling it, identifying different sentence types e.g. statements, questions (commands and exclamations), creating our own adventures using stick model Traction Men and writing what he might be saying.
Phonics - Year 2 will be adding ing to words ending in y and changing the y to an i and adding ed. We will be practising our common exception words in dictated sentences.
Year 1 will be learning the split digraphs i-e and o-e.
Maths - Year 2 will be comparing amounts of money, calculations involving money in a shop scenario, making £1, finding change and solving problems involving money. If you can make amounts/ count money at home that would be beneficial. Maybe you could make a shop at home? Practising counting in 2, 5 and 10 is also helpful.
Year 1 will be understanding 20, one more and one less with numbers up to 20 and using a number line to 20.
Science - Year 1 will be finding out about mammals and birds. Year 2 will be exploring what do plants need to grow?
Design and Techology - This week we will be designing our own Jack in the boxes and labelling them.
History - We will be exploring Early 20th Century toys and creating a timeline of toys over the years. We will also be comparing toys 'then and now'. We will be writing letters home to ask Grandparents about the toys they used to play with.
Computing - Year 1 will be developing their ability to paint a digital picture of a toy. Year 2 will be developing their coding skills.
