Forest Schools for year 2 Tuesday. Please remember to wear appropriate clothes and bring PE kit in a bag to change into for the afternoon.

 

Literacy - This week we will continue with researching the rainforest using our non fiction books. We will be focusing on using adjectives and year 2 will focus on using expanded noun phrases eg the brown, furry sloth. We will be collecting a bank of adjectives, writing animal descriptions, writing riddles, using our senses and answering questions based on a piece of text.

 

Phonics - Year 2 will be learning the spelling pattern of doubling the consonants and adding er. We will also be revising any phonemes we are unsure of.

 

Year 1 are continuing to learn the 'choose to use' sounds. this week they will focus on

/ch/ and /tch/ 

 /j/ and /dge/       

/er/ /ir/ or/ and /ur/

 

Maths- Year 2 will be measuring in cm, measuring in metres, comparing lengths and heights and ordering lengths and heights.

 

Year 1 will be partitioning into tens and ones, using number lines to 50, estimating using a number line and adding one more and one less with numbers up to 50.

 

Geography - We will be comparing Brazil to the UK.

 

Science - Year 1 will be exploring how to care for our planet and year 2 will be exploring microhabitats.

 

Computing - Year 1 will be programming using directions. Year 2 will be beginning a unit of photographs where they will start by considering whether landscape or portrait is better.

 

Design and Technology - We will be exploring sliders this week and looking at how this mechanism works.
