Forest School is on Tuesday for Year 1. 

Literacy - This week we will be learning about owls. We will be watching some clips about owls and reading some non fiction texts about them. We will write some questions about we we want to find out and brainstorm our research. We will be creating a fact file about owls over a couple of literacy sessions. We will also be answering questions about owls from a piece of text. This week our focus will be on using conjunctions eg and, because for year 1 and but, so, when if, or as well for year 2.

Phonics - Year 2 will be dropping the e and adding y. Also, practising their common exception words. 

Year 1 will be learning the /au/ sound as in autumn and haunt and /gn/ as in gnaw and gnat. 

Maths - Year 2 will be practically measuring length and height using cm and m. They will be solving problems with length and height. They will also be practising their four operations, including missing numbers and word problems.

Year 1 will be making groups of tens and ones, partitioning into tens and ones, using a number line up to 50 and estimating on a number line.

Science - Year 1 will be considering why it is important to care for our planet. Year 2 will be exploring habitats an animals diets.

Art- We will be expressive painting and exploring colour mixing.

Geography - We will be finding out countries that make up the UK. We will be focusing on England this week including the capital city and key information.

Computing - Year 2 we will starting a unit where we will be taking photos. Year 2 will begin to learn what an algorithm with a non computer based task.

PE - We will continue to build on our circus dance we started last week.
