Tuesday is forest school for Year 1.
Literacy- This week we will be using the text 'Into the Forest'. We will be learning about the past and present tense. We will be exploring the book through drama, sorting different verbs in terms of past or present. We will be retelling the story in pictures and orally telling the story to each other using the past tense and then writing the story. We will also be answering questions based on the story.
Phonics- Year 2 will be learning when you double the consonant in some words before adding the ed. They will also be practising their common exception words.
Year 1 will be learning the sounds /ew/ as in flew and /ear/ as in bear.
Maths - Year 2 will be comparing volume and capacity (including practical exploration), measuring in ml and l, solving problems using the four operations and volume and capacity and reading temperature on thermometers.
Year 1 will be learning all about measurement this week. We will be measuring using non standard measure, for example cubes to find out the length of an object before measuring in cm.
Science- Year 1 will be discussing the changes in Spring and begin a record of the weather. Year 2 will be exploring whether things are living, dead or never been alive.
Geography - This week we will be finding out about Wales as we continue to explore the countries of the UK.
Computing - Year 1 will be exploring some simple code. Year 2 will be exploring better ways to take photos.
Art - We will be looking at artwork by Cezanne and Van Gogh. We will be exploring their brush work using acrylics.
