This week Safer Internet Day is 11th February. We will be discussing staying safe online throughout the week and discussing the theme 'Too good to be true? Protecting yourself and others from scams'. We will be doing this in an age appropriate way by discussing our safe adults, what information we should give out and consider which things we may see online are real or fake.
Literacy- This week our text will be 'Flying like Flittermouse'. We will be reading part of the book and predicting the ending. We will be creating our own flying machine, describing it and planning and writing part of the story. Year 1 will be focusing on writing in full sentences using adjectives and year 2 will be exploring words with suffixes eg ly, ment, ness.
Phonics - Year 2 will be exploring root words where you double consonnants and added and ing.
Year 1 will be learning more "choose to use" sounds /ey/ /y/ and /ew/ (See newsletter below)
Maths- Year 2 will be learning their 10 times tables, dividing by 10, learning their 5 times tables, dividing by 5 and exploring how the 5 and 10 times tables are linked.
Year 1 will be learning to subtract by counting back, finding the difference between two numbers, using related number facts and missing number problems.
History - We will be comparing the Wrights brothers to Neil Armstrong. We will also look at other space explorers .
Science -Year 1 will be investigating which animals are carnivores, herbivores and omnivores. Year 2 will be investigating animals in polar and desert habitats.
Art - We will be sharing and celebrating the art we have done this half term with our classmates.
Computing - Year 1 will be continuing to work on their animated storyboards. Year 2 will be developing their coding skills.
