On Monday after school in the hall, Mrs Phillips and Mrs Westbrook will be doing a 'Welcome to Year 3' presentation which all Year 3 parents are welcome to attend. The meeting should last no longer than about 15 minutes.
On Wednesday after school in the hall, Mrs Murphy and Mrs Westbrook will be doing 'Welcome to KS2, Year 4 and Year 5' presentation which all Year 4 parents are welcome to attend. This meeting should also last no more than about 15 minutes.
Maths: We are continuing our place value units this week in both year 3 and in year 4. We will be partitioning numbers to 100, 1,000, using number lines and looking at hundreds and thousands.
Literacy: We will be exploring our new text, 'Stone Age Boy' to find powerful verbs, using adjectives to describe nouns and describing a picture.
RE: We will be starting our new unit of learning all about the Trinity and baptism. This week we will be exploring John the Baptist and the significance of water in a baptism.
Computing: We will be using the laptops to familiarise ourselves with logins and passwords. We will be discussing our digital footprint and how to stay safe online.
History
Y3: We are learning about how people survived in the stone age this week.
Y4: We are looking at timelines and archeological evidence for the Shang Dynasty.
Y5: We will be introducing the Anglo-Saxons and Scots by learning about the invaders.
Science:
Y3: We will be identifying and naming bones in the human body.
Y4: We will be grouping animals this week.
Y5: We will be exploring friction and understanding what this means.
Art: We are beginning to explore the use of charcoal in our sketch books, looking at how we can make different marks and create different effects.
