w/c 5th October '26
This week we are thinking about World Mental Health Day (Saturday 10th October) and what this means for us, linking to our PSHE lessons and assemblies. The School Council have been busy putting together a Mental Health Survey to send out to all the classes. The data from these surveys will help us to see how ways in which we can make our school a safer and happier place to be.

We are practising too for our Harvest Service, taking place at the church on Thursday 8th October at 11am. More information to follow.
Literacy: We are starting our new text this week called, 'A seed of doubt'. This is a beautiful text which we will use to inspire poetry writing. Using noun phrases and conjunctions, we will be writing short sentences to entertain.
Maths: Year 3s are adding and subtracting 1s across a 10, and 10s across a 100. Year 4s are starting their Addition and Subtraction unit, adding up to two 4-digit numbers with exchanging.
PSHE: We will be thinking about calm strategies this week. When we feel overwhelmed, upset or angry, how can we keep ourselves calm? Using Calm Clouds the children will be recording strategies that they can use in the classroom as well as at home to help them.
RE: We will be looking at stained glass windows from the inside of church this week thinking about what we can learn about the trinity from these and other church objects.
Art: The children have done such brilliant Stone Age-inspired pictures this half term, that this week and next they will be planning their own projects to complete and display on our art wall.
History:
Y3: Stone Age diet. What did people eat in the Stone Age? How did they get their food? How was it cooked? How is their diet different to ours?
Y4: Greek gods. To find out about Greek religion. Who did they believe in? Who did they worship?
Y5: Viking life. How did the Vikings settle in Britain? What were their houses like? What did they wear? What did they eat?
