Welcome back! I hope you have all had a lovely break and you're ready to come back to school. 

Literacy

We will be reading the first chapter this week, reflecting on the character of Sophie and the BFG. There will be a quiz! And we will be putting ourselves into teams / groups for the remainder of the half term. 

Maths

We will be continuing with Multiplication and Division for the first few weeks. 

RE

This week, we will be familiarising ourselves with the Jewish faith, symbols and stories. We will be finding out how Jewsih people remember their covenant with God. 

Computing 

We will start our new half term with some internet safety to ensure the children know how to use the iPads and the internet safely. 

History

Y3: Who were the Ancient Egyptians?

Y4: The Shang Dynasty - when was this in time? 

Y5: What happened at Lindisfarne? And Viking longboats. 

Art

We will be finding out about Paul Cezanne and focusing on his artwork. We will be discussing still life portraits and planning our own portraits using paints and other mixed media. 

I will be checking the reading diaries and reminding the children the importance of reading daily at home. This is the National Year of Reading so I will be promoting reading for pleasure more over the next few weeks. Please do encourage your child to think carefully about their reading choices. Are there any new authors they would like to try? Please do ask for recommendations if you're not sure what your child should be reading at home.
