W/C 23rd February

Welcome back! 

We hope you've had a lovely break and ready for the next 5 weeks of learning.

This half term is only 5 weeks and we feel like its going to fly by! 

Yr 4 - This half term, you will have your Forest School sessions on Tuesday afternoons. You will need to come to school in your PE kits for the morning and have your Forest School clothes in a bag ready to change into after lunch.  Please remember, you need a long sleeved top/jumper and leggings or trousers (no shorts or jeans). Please remember suitable footwear and waterproofs. Also think about lots of warm layers if the forecast id cold. Fingers crossed the rain begins to ease and we get some warmer weather in the run up to Easter.

Maths

Yr 4 - We will continue with our Fractions unit and look at equivalent fractions on a number line and then adding fractions and mixed numbers.

Yr 5 - Continuing with our Decimals and Percentages unit, we will be ordering and comparing numbers with up to 3d.p and then rounding to the  nearest whole number and 1 d.p and then learning about percentages.

 

Literacy

This week we will be doing some independent writing. We will choose a different genre, plan, write and edit.

 

Science

Yr 3 -  We are starting a new unit on 'Light'. This week we will learn about different light sources, describing them as natural and man made.

Yr  4 -  A new unit - Electricity. We will be exploring different appliances that use electricity.

Yr 5 - Our final lesson of our unit, we will be exploring uses of everyday materials - metal, wood, plastic.

 

DT

This half term we will be cooking. Our brief is to plan, cook and evaluate a savoury snack.

This week we will be exploring a range of savoury snacks available in the shops and carrying out a taste test. 

 

Computing

Yr 4 - This half term we will be learning how to present our work using Powerpoint. We will choose a topic in which we will be presenting our work and look at the basic  features of Powerpoint.

Yr 5 - We are returning to coding and will be using Purple Mash. This week we will be learning about coding effectively.

 

RE

This half term we will be returning to Christianity. Our big question that we will be exploring is:

Should believing in the resurrection change how Christians view life and death?
