W/C 13th April

Welcome back. We hope you've all had a lovely Easter break and managed to enjoy the few days of sunshine we had!

Before Easter you all received a booklet about our residential. It contained all the necessary information and some consent forms. Please ensure you return the forms to the office this week. 

Forest School - Yr 5's, its your turn to go to the forest on Tuesday afternoons. Don't forget you need to have long legs and long sleeves to keep you protected. If the weather is looking wet or colder, make sure you have suitable waterproofs/coat/trousers.

Maths

Yr 4 - We will start this term by continuing with Decimals. We will be comparing decimals and making a whole using tenths and hundredths.

Yr 5 - To begin with, we will be starting our Shape unit. We will be learning all about angles. We will classifying different angles, measuring angles and learning how to draw angles using a protractor.

 

Literacy

This week we will be finishing publishing any unfinished pieces of work that we didn't quite manage to get finished before the holidays. 

We will begin a new book after we return from our residential.

 

Science

Yr 3 - Plants - this week we will be learning about the different parts of a plant and dissecting a plant.

Yr 4 - Habitats -  we will be looking at living things and their habitats and classifying animals.

Yr 5 - Lifecycles - comparing the life cycles of mammals and amphibians.

 

Art

This half term our Art unit is all about Sculpture. We will be learning about plinths. This week we will be studying the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square and look at some of the previous sculptures displayed.

 

RE

Our new big questions for this half term is:

How does tawhid create a sense of belonging to the Muslim community?

To begin with we will engage with the idea that one thing can have an affect which spreads.

 

Computing

Yr 4 -  This half term we will be using Purple Mash to learn about Coding.  This week we will be creating a design view for a program, exploring different object types and planning an algorithm for a simple program.

Yr 5 - Using Purple Mash, we will be creating games. To begin, we will be evaluating what makes a good video game. We will be identifying different features and playing and evaluating different games against a set criteria.
