w/b 7th March

Friday 11th March, 2022.

Maths - first of all write the multiples of 3, 4 and 8. Children can use this to complete the multiplation mosaic. Please only use the first sheet which focuses on 3, 4 and 8 timestable.

Literacy - on Friday we have been reading Fantastic Mr Fox. Please click on the link below and read chapter 4. Then answer questions from AF3 only on the question sheet provided.

Topic: This week, we are focussing on all things volcanoes. We have a special treat on Tuesday - all day we are going to be led in a series of workshops about volcanoes and earthquakes. Using song, drama, science and technology, we will be exploring the cause and the effects of these natural disasters.

Literacy: We will then be using our senses to describe an active volcano. In our text, 'Escape from Pompeii', the volcano took everyone by surprise when it erupted and our main character managed to escape. We will be writing a description using powerful verbs, adjectives and similes.

Art: We will look carefully at the artwork in our text and sketch our own volcanoes using a similar style. The colours are so vibrant and bold, we may use acrylic paints to make our sketches come alive.

Maths: We are continuing with measuring lengths this week. We will begin by looking at equivalent lengths in mm and cm. Then we will be comparing lengths before adding lengths and solving problems. We will need to be able to use a ruler accurately and correctly. Can you remember which lines we read when measuring in mm? cm?

PE: We are starting our new unit of Tennis on Monday and Dance on Wednesday. I am hoping this sunny weather holds this half term so we can be outside as much as possible. Please remember to wear PE kits to school on these days.

Computing: We are beginning our unit on emails this week. I will be teaching the children how to compose a email and communicate online. This will be done safely through Purple Mash. I will add the activities for them to complete at home as well should they wish to.

Please look out for any messages about Parents Evening this week. I will be available on Tuesday 22nd March and Wednesday 23rd March from 3:30 to 5:30. Please sign up for a 10 minute appointment. I will be sharing your child's progress in writing, reading and maths since our last meeting in October. I will also be sharing recent assessments and targets for the summer term. If you have any questions, please do ask during this meeting. If you cannot attend on these days, send me a dojo message and I will see what other available I may have that week.

That's all for now!
