On Monday we will be heading up to the church as a school for our Harvest service. Please bring tinned food etc in on Monday for a collection. Hopefully next time we go to church we can have parents join but unfortunately not this year.
Literacy - This week we will be reading the story ' Little Red and the very hungry wolf'. We will be doing some drama about the story, retelling the story orally, in pictures and then in sentences. We will be exploring the new vocabulary that arises in the book and answering some comprehension questions on the story. Also we will be writing speech bubbles for the characters in the book.
Maths - This week we are moving onto addition and subtraction. Year 1 will be working with part whole models to add amounts and using the add symbol. Year 2 will be working on fact families, comparing number sentences, making sure we know our number bonds and exploring related facts.
Science - Year 1 will be observing animals, thinking about what group they belong e.g. mammals. Year 2 will be looking at what humans and animals basic needs for survival are.
Topic - In art we will be completing our African sunsets, drawing African fruits and hopefully tasting them while reading Handa's Surprise.
Phonics - In phonics this week, we are learning the Phase 3 sounds ur, ow and oi. We will also be looking at the tricky word 'you' learning to read and spell it. At the end of the week, we will be reading captions using the sounds we have learnt.
Here are some videos of the sounds we are learning.
