This is a short week with the Bank Holiday and an Inset Day so we are going to waste no time at all, getting stuck into our new topic on Wednesday.
Topic: We will be finding out who the Vikings were and where they came from. We will be reading information about the Vikings, answering questions and completing a map. Then we will be asking, why did they invade and what made them so successful? We will be using a range of historical sources and questioning what we find out.
Literacy: Our grammar for the next week is to know how to use apostrophes correctly. We will be learning about contracted words and using apostrophes to show omission. Then we will be learning how to show possession, when an object belongs to someone and how we use an apostrophe. We will apply our newly learned skills in sentences we will write about the Vikings.
Maths: We will be carrying on with fractions this week, finding a fraction of a set of objects and revising equivalent fractions.
Spellings: I will be working with the children in class with their weekly spellings this week but please do practise at home.
Reading: We will be hearing the children read this week and changing books where needed. Keep reading at home as much as possible.
