Literacy: We are writing our reports this week after 3 weeks of learning how to compose a Non-Chronological report. We will be researching, planning and editing our reports. The children will be producing a Visitors' Tour Guide to Ancient Greece and I am excited to see the final results!
Maths: We will be dividing by 10, multiplying and dividing by 3, and introducing ourselves to the 4 times tables this week. Keep using TT Rockstars to help support your child with the learning of these times tables. I believe our highest scoring rockstar is currently on 65,000 points! Now there's a score to beat!
PE: Due to the demands from KS1 and KS2 for the use of the school hall for play rehearsals, this does mean our PE times will change from week to week. This week, I would like to try to do our Dance lesson on Tuesday afternoon. I will send a Dojo to confirm this on Monday eve as it will be weather dependent (if it is raining, Years 5 and 6 will need the hall for PE instead) We can do dance in our uniform so it won't matter greatly but I won't need the children to wear PE kits on Thursday this week, just usual uniform. Again, I'll send out a reminder closer to the time.
Reading: Well done to all those children who have been reading every evening at home! A Dojo will be given on Mondays for reading at least 5 out of 7 days. Keep it up! Don't stop now. I will continue to check the diaries and do as much reading as we can in class but it gets trickier at this time of the year with play rehearsals so its even more important you are reading at home.
Spellings: Please do keep practising spellings at home too. I will be assessing the children on the spelling of the Common Exception Words again very soon so keep it up. We do practise spellings every morning at 8:45 for 15 minutes so please do ensure children are on time as far as possible so that this time is well spent.
Christmas Play rehearsals: I have mentioned already but these are well underway with only a couple of weeks left until the final shows. The children have been doing really well learning all their lines. Keep learning the songs at home and ask the children to sing to you when you have a dull 5 minutes! It's going to be a fantastic show!
That's all for now. Keep an eye of the Dojo for updates this week.
