Literacy - This week we will be moving onto the book 'Lost in the Toy Museum'.

            Monday - Our focus is our handwriting, ensuring we know our letter formation and year 2 who are ready are continuing to do cursive joins. 

          Tuesday - We will be reading the book and looking at the new vocabulary. Year 1 will be focusing on nouns (singular and plural) by writing sentences about items in our class. Year 2 will be focusing on nouns and adjectives. They will be describing objects in the classroom.

           Wednesday - We will be playing a hot/ cold game, describing where things are that have been hidden for example The small teddy is climbing up the wooden bookcase. They will be encouraged to extend this with a conjunction if they can.

         Thursday - We will be building a sentence using words cards. We will be writing statements and questions about the book.

      Friday - We will be answering some comprehension questions about the book.

 

Maths- Year 2- This week we continue our work on multiplication. We will be recalling our knowledge on doubles, working on the 2 times table, 5 times table, 10 times table and making equal groups (sharing.

Year 1 -This week we will be focusing on subtracting crossing and not crossing 10, looking at related facts and comparing number sentences.

 

Topic- This week we will be sketching old toys and looking at them and how they were played with. We will be comparing old and new toys using a Venn diagram. Also, we will be finding out Queen Victoria as a significant individual.

Science - Year 1 will be naming different materials. Year 2 will be comparing suitability of materials for different purposes. 

Can you find and name materials around the home. Maybe you could conduct an experiment and share your findings with the class?

Phonics-  Year 2 will be looking at alternative spellings form /ai/ and /c/. ALso working on common exception words. If you can continue to work on these at home this would be great!

 

Year 1 - will be learning the phase 5 sounds ey, i-e, o-e, a-e and the tricky words some, come, were and there.
