Spring Term - Second Half

Beneath My Feet

Our topic for this term has a Geography focus. We will be learning about volcanoes, earthquakes, rocks, soils and fossils.

In literacy, we will be using the text, 'Escape from Pompeii' to learn about this historical event as well as using the illustrations as inspiration for our art work.  We will also be reading 'Stone Girl, Bone Girl' to support our learning of Mary Anning, a fossil hunter from the Victorian times.

In Maths, we will be measuring length and perimeter. We will be finishing off our unit on division and applying our skills to our times tables practise.

In Science, our focus is rocks and soils. We will be carrying out a local study to find out which soils we can find around here. We may also be able to visit Pulborough Brooks to investigate and examine a range of rocks and soils. We will also be learning about a range of fossils, linked with our learning of Mary Anning.
