Literacy

This week, we are looking at chapter 2. We are introduced to the main character of Hogarth and his father. Using inverted commas, we will be writing a conversation between these two characters describing the moment when Hogarth discovered the Iron Man. Then, the Year 3s will move on to write a diary entry from Hogarth's perspective.

Maths

Year 3s are learning about unit fractions, and non-unit fractions, of a set of objects this week. By the end of the week, they will be moving onto their new unit on money.  Year 4s will be comparing and ordering decimals at the start of the week.

Art

The children will be thinking more carefully this week about what they would like to create for their sculptures. Using nature to inspire us, the children will be creating sculpture that could be used in our new outdoor area. Whether it's going to be a bird's nest, a ladybird or an egg, they will need to consider which materials they would like to use, thinking about sustainability and strength.

Computing

Year 3s will be starting their micro-bits unit this week, exploring what they can do with the micro-bits once they have used the correct coding. Year 4s will be using Purple Mash to complete their coding tasks.

History

Y3: We will be exploring the Ancient Maya religions and beliefs about gods.

Y4: We will be finding out why the Romans invaded Britain.

Y5: We will be finding out what religion the people of Benin followed.
