Tuesday is forest school for year 2

Literacy - This week we will be using the text 'The Tear Thief'. We will be creating some Top Trump cards about the characters, describing events where we have cried, describing what the Tear Thief does in the book and why and considering a new scene we could add. Year 2 will also be looking at the possessive apostrophe for singular possession, e.g. Sam's pen.

Phonics - Year 2 will be learning and spelling contractions e.g. can't

Year 1 will be continuing with phase 5 sounds. This week we will be learning oe, au, ey, a-e and e-e. 

Maths - Year 2 will begin a unit on time. We will be telling the time to the o'clock, half past, quater past and to and begin to tell the time to the 5 minute intervals. Any practise telling the time at home would be great!

Year 1 will be finding half of a quantity, recognising a quarter, find a quarter of an object or a shape and finding a quarter of a quantity

Science - Year 1 will be consolidating their learning on plants. Year 2 will be finding out about the life cycle of an amphibian.

History - We will be finding out about the exploration by Magellan and comparing it to Columbus.

Computing - Year 1 will be create a pirate ship on 2publish and year 2 will be starting a unit on quizzing.

DT- We will be finding out about fish and developing our skills at preparing food.
