w/b 8th June

Literacy We will be starting our new literacy unit this week, looking at David Attenborough and his amazing life. We will be watching some videos about his life, his adventures, and discussing what we admire about him. We will be working towards writing a fact file or a biography about David Attenborough.

Maths We will be carrying on with our Shape unit, looking at Quadrilaterals, polygons and symmetry.

DT We will be discussing what we found at the village shop, which products are already available, and which sandwiches we liked the look of. We were inspired by some of the ingredient combinations and thought about what we would like to use for our sandwiches.

Computing We will be learning how to use onion skinning, which is another term for 'layering' our animations.

SWIMMING Our swimming slots are Monday afternoon and Wednesday morning. Please ensure your child has their swim kit in school on these days so we can make full use of the pool once it is up and running.

GOODWOOD! The Year 3s will be visiting Goodwood estate on TUESDAY and THURSDAY. Please meet me at school, normal time in the morning so I can register the children before we leave for the forest on Tuesday, and the farm on Thursday. The children will need to come dressed in appropriate clothing for a day in the forest or at a farm. This includes sensible shoes, long sleeved tops and long trousers / leggings to avoid being bitten by any midges, a jumper encase it is chilly in sheltered areas, a waterproof coat as the forecast looks rainy. The children will also need a small rucksack to include a packed lunch, a water bottle and some healthy snacks to sustain them throughout the day. We will be doing quite a bit of walking so walking shoes / trainers are advised. Although wellies are good when it is rainy, they are not always the most comfortable footwear for walking in. I am hoping to take the children to the motor circuit on Tuesday, and then on a walk up the Trundle on Thursday, weather permitting. The school will communicate with parents via dojo nearer the time once we have a better idea on the weather.
