w/b 1st June
Welcome back after half term.
This week we start swimming! Our swimming days are Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure ALL swimming items are named and school uniform as well, as sometimes this can get muddled in the changing rooms.
Literacy - This week we will be using the text 'The Robot and the Bluebird'. We will be designing an item from something recyclable e.g. a bird feeder from a bottle and writing an explanation for this. We will be describing how the characters in the book look and their feelings. We will also be writing instructions for how Robot should take care of the Bluebird.
Phonics - Year 2 will be continuing the learn words with different suffixes on e.g. ful, ly, meant, less and ment. We will also be learning more contractions e.g. don't.
Year 1 - The National Phonics screening check will take place next week, 8th June. This week we will be revisiting all the sounds we have learnt so far and reading these in real words and 'nonsense' words.
Maths - Year 2 will be consolidating their work on telling the time to the 5 minute intervals and practising their arithmetic skills. We will then move onto a unit on statistics. We will be creating tally charts, tables and block diagrams.
Year 1 - will be using positional language, above and below and place value to 100.

Computing - Year 1 will begin a unit on coding. Year 2 will continue their learning on quizzing.
