Forest school Tuesday for year 2.

Literacy - This week we will be writing our own pirate stories. We will be planning, writing descriptions of our pirates using adjectives and writing our story. Year 2 will focus on conjunctions and using inverted commas. Year 1 writing in full sentences with and/because and using capital letters for names.

Phonics - Year 2 will be adding suffixes less and ment. They will also be practising their common exception words and learning this weeks spelling pattern.

Year 1 will be continue to practise the phase 5 sounds. This week we will focus on /u_e/  /oy/  /ir/ /ou/ and /aw/

Maths - Year 2 will be learning unit fractions, non unit fractions, the equivalence of 1/2 and 2/4 and recognising 3/4.

Year 1 will be making doubles, making equal groups by grouping and sharing. 

Design and Technology - This week we will be learning the skills of cutting, peeling, grating, slicing and squeezing in order to make our own root vegetable salads.

Science  -Year 1 will be investigating plants in their local area. Year 2 will be investigating parents and their offspring.

History - This week we will  be finding out about Christopher Columbus by looking at what photos of him tell us about the past and finding out about his life.

Computing  - Year 2 will be exploring 'is it real' in terms of photos. Year 1 will be developing their skills in pictograms.

Topic- We will be creating our own treasure map and writing directions.
